Victory Christian School

Mission

Our mission is summed up in three core values, which are consistent with its philosophy of education: Christian character, scholarship, and leadership.

Philosophy

Being a Christian educational institution, Victory Christian School desires to develop children to their full potential in Christ. The apostle Paul declares in Ephesians 2:10, For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Every individual is God’s work of art whom He uniquely fashioned in His image for a divine purpose and destiny. Accomplishing this awesome task requires an understanding of what true education is.

All that series of instruction and discipline which is intended to enlighten the understanding, correct the temper, and form the manners and habits of youth, and fir them for usefulness in their future stations.
-Noah Webster, 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language

Education is not only to teach information and academic skills but also to form character and build producers, i.e., children who are able to apply the knowledge they have acquired for productive endeavors. It is a collaborative effort between the parents and teachers who are endowed by God with the gift of teaching.

Forming Christian character begins with helping children understand their need for salvation in Christ and submitting to His Lordship in their lives. Christian character and scholarship are important prerequisites to developing leaders. Christian leadership is all about serving others out of a love for God and people, and a leader must be someone who is both virtuous and competent to accomplish whatever task is at hand.

Values

Since God is the Creator of all things, His Word is the Ultimate Source of all knowledge. Scholarship is developed through a method of education which helps inculcate in individuals the ability to reason form the Bible to every aspect of life. This method not only inspires a love for learning but also prepares the pupils to become great thinkers who will contribute to the betterment of society.

The school curriculum also has a strong emphasis on language proficiency, particularly in reading, writing, and speaking, because language is the key to all learning.

Home School
Background Conceived in 2007, VCS Home School was established in recognition of the value and benefits of direct parental instruction of children. The families we served have quadrupled since then as more and more parents embrace the God-ordained call to be their children’s first teachers.

Educational Goals VCS Home School upholds the biblical command for parents to educate their own children. As such, parents are called to personally be responsible for their well-being, to direct their children and the household to keep the way of the Lord (Genesis 18:19), as God instructed Abraham.

Before public and private schools were institutionalized, God designed the home as the medium by which our children can be educated. The Israelites were given a clear command of teaching their children all the great things the Lord has done for them and to teach them God’s Word for two reasons: that they will revere the Lord and that they may pass them on to their own children in the future (Deuteronomy 4:9).

Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Deuteronomy 4:9

Giving instruction while sitting in one’s house is home instruction given by parents to their own children – that is home schooling. Indeed there is no substitute for direct parental instruction.
